There is no way you are not aware of the things that are happening around the penultimate and final installment of the Fast & Furious franchise because the buzz is that loud. Every single update gets the attention of the world, and the makers have been keeping most of it under wraps. Vin Diesel, who was vocal about the same, has not given any update for a really long time. But what is not making any buzz right now is a spin-off that was confirmed a while back starring Dwayne Johnson and his Hobbs timeline. The film was announced last year, and there has been radio silence around it. Turns out, now Chris Morgan has decided to talk about the same and give a confusing update about it.
Chris Morgan On Hobbs Spin-Off
For the uninitiated, Hobbs & Shaw was a spin-off starring Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson from the world of Fast & Furious, where both the actors were first introduced as their respective characters. In 2023, the makers confirmed that they were now shaping a new project, which was just a Hobbs spin-off. But nothing about it has been said after that. It was being said that the film was being written as a bridge between Fast 10 and 11, which made it very crucial to the franchise. Chris Morgan has now said he is working on the project, but there is no major update. Read on to learn everything you should know about the same.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Morgan, the man behind many Fast & Furious movies, has spoken about the new Hobbs spin-off. The writer said he cannot talk about the release schedule but is definitely working on the Hobbs & Shaw movie. In his conversation, he even spoke about his future projects, which also include this spin-off. However, there is no guarantee on when we should expect it.
“[The release schedule] is really something the studio would have to speak to. We’re talking about what comes when and how, but I’ll leave that to greater minds than mine,” Morgan says. “I can say that I’m working on a Hobbs & Shaw kind of script. So we’ll see where that goes, but I’m excited about it.”
Talking about his lineup for the future, he added, “It’s under lock and key. I can say that I’m working on a Hobbs & Shaw kind of script. So we’ll see where that goes, but I’m excited about it. We also have a project [called Deputy X] that we’re doing at Universal with Glen Powell. Will Beall just wrote an awesome draft, and it feels like we’re gearing up for a big fun franchise. I have another action thing that I’m thinking about writing. But one of my passions is horror, and I would like to do one great horror movie someday.”
