Interstellar Re-release Box Office Day 3: It is quite remarkable to observe the extent to which audiences are now closely monitoring the box office results of re-released films. The unexpected has indeed transpired, as we find ourselves witnessing re-releases outperforming new releases in theaters. These developments will certainly be a topic of discussion in the future. While Sanam Teri Kasam is making headlines with its impressive run, another film that has attracted a significant audience during its re-release is Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. As it concludes its first weekend since returning to theaters, the film has achieved a remarkable ₹50 crore in the Indian market when combined with the earnings from its original release.

Interstellar Re-release Box Office Update

Indeed, the figures are accurate. According to data from Sacnilk, Interstellar has maintained a strong position amidst various competing films, ranking as the second-best performer of the week. The film, featuring Matthew McConaughey, garnered over ₹3.25 crore at the domestic box office on Sunday, bringing its total gross to ₹9 crore. It initially earned ₹2.40 crore net on its opening day and followed up with more than ₹3.25 crore net on Saturday.

This achievement signifies that Christopher Nolan's film has reached a significant milestone in India. Upon its original release in 2014, it grossed ₹41 crore in the country. Therefore, when the re-release earnings are included, the film has now surpassed the ₹50 crore gross mark in India. This is indeed a noteworthy accomplishment for the film.

Interstellar has distinguished itself in the trend of re-releases, outperforming other notable re-releases in India. Recently, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani made headlines with its re-release, earning ₹1.15 crore net on its opening day, yet Interstellar has exceeded that figure. Another strong contender, Tumbbad, earned ₹1.50 crore on its opening day. However, Christopher Nolan's film debuted with ₹2.50 crore on its first day of re-release, clearly establishing its dominance.

Can Interstellar Beat Titanic?

Currently, Christopher Nolan's Interstellar is in competition with James Cameron's Titanic, which holds the record for the most successful re-release at the Indian box office. The drama featuring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet amassed ₹20.5 crore during its lifetime re-release in India. Should Interstellar continue to perform well, it has the potential to exceed this figure. Upon its initial release in 2014, the Nolan film garnered ₹38 crore in India. It will be intriguing to observe the film's performance during its second release, as it has been one of the most eagerly awaited re-releases in the country, and the initial reception has been notably positive.
