Interstellar Re-Release Box Office Day 1 Estimates: The release of Pushpa 2: The Rule, featuring Allu Arjun, on December 5, 2025, was met with widespread enthusiasm, as audiences flocked to cinema halls. Nevertheless, some viewers expressed disappointment that Sukumar’s sequel had usurped the slot originally designated for one of the most eagerly awaited Hollywood re-releases. This refers to Interstellar, which was initially scheduled for an IMAX re-release but faced delays due to Pushpa 2's premiere. Just as fans began to despair of seeing the film on IMAX screens in India, the producers announced a release following a two-month postponement. We are now monitoring its box office performance.

Interstellar Day 1 Box Office Estimates

Directed by Christopher Nolan, Interstellar premiered in 2014 and features a cast that includes Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, and Timothée Chalamet. The narrative centres on Joseph Cooper, a farmer and former NASA pilot, who is assigned to lead a team of researchers on a mission to pilot a spacecraft in search of a new habitable planet for humanity, as Earth has become unlivable.

The film was eventually released in India on February 7, 2025, and is experiencing an unprecedented response for any Hollywood re-release in the nation. Interstellar has not only surpassed the performance of new Bollywood films but has also established a new standard for re-releases. Advance ticket sales, excluding reserved seats, indicated an opening of over Rs 2 crore, a remarkable figure. When factoring in on-the-spot and same-day bookings, the total becomes even more impressive.

Considering all factors, Interstellar is projected to debut at an impressive Rs 5-6 crore at the Indian box office. As reported by Koimoi, this film is expected to make history by achieving the largest opening for a re-release in India. Presently, the record is held by Thalapathy Vijay's Ghilli, which garnered approximately Rs 4.13 crore net.

Interstellar Advance Booking

According to a widely circulated tweet from an X user named Charlie, the re-release of Interstellar has generated significant excitement. Advance ticket sales for the Christopher Nolan film commenced a few days prior and have shown remarkable performance at the Indian box office. The film has outperformed recent Indian releases such as Loveyapa and Badass Ravi Kumar by a considerable margin. In India, the re-release of Interstellar has already achieved pre-sales totalling Rs 2.01 crore, with more than 250,000 tickets sold, resulting in an estimated gross of around Rs 8 crore on its opening day.

Interstellar is set to surpass other Hollywood re-releases, such as Titanic, which earned Rs 20 crore during its re-release in India. Notably, advance ticket sales in Bhubaneswar commenced merely 48 hours before the initial screenings, while the rest of the nation had the opportunity to book tickets a month in advance. In Bhubaneswar, all primary showings were fully booked, prompting the addition of three extra slots. With up to six screenings scheduled daily from Friday to Sunday, these slots are also quickly reaching capacity.
