Indian 2, the Kamal Haasan-starrer film which hit theatres on Friday, opened to mixed reviews from critics and public alike. But how much did it fare well at the box office? Directed by filmmaker Shankar, Indian 2 is the sequel of the 1996 film Indian starring the actor in the iconic role of Senapathy.

Indian 2 box office day one collection

As per Sacnilk, Indian 2 has earned around Rs 26 crore (net) at the box office on its first day of release in all languages. The film released in Hindi as Hindustani 2 and Telugu as Bharateeyudu 2. According to the early numbers, the film saw a collection of Rs 17 crore in Tamil Nadu, couples with Rs 1.1 crore in Hindi and Rs 7.9 crore in Telugu. Despite its mixed responses from critics, the film is expected to get picked up over the weekend. The film witnessed an occupancy of 55.62% in Tamil Nadu on its first day of release.

Indian 2, directed by Shankar, stars Kamal Haasan in the lead role as Senapathy. The film revolves around a group of YouTubers who run an activism channel against corruption. Tired of pointing out the problems in the society, they ask Senapathy aka Indian thata to return. The rest of the film is about how he makes a comeback, which further leads to drama.

The film ended on the note that a third part will be coming soon. A glimpse of Indian 3 showing during the post-credits sequence of Indian 2, reveals that the third part will be set during the pre-Independence era, with Kajal Aggarwal playing a prominent role.

Indian 2 will begin to stream on Netflix after its theatrical run. Backed by Lyca Productions, the film has music scored by Anirudh Ravichander.
