Indian 2, the political thriller marked the second collaboration of Kamal Haasan and director Shankar. After a disastrous run at the theatres, the Indian sequel recently had its OTT release on Netflix. As expected, the movie failed and received massive criticism from the netizens for its bizarre story and making. Even though Indian 2 is getting massive trolled, Siddharth, who played a key role in the film, impressed the audience with his performance. However, the Chittha actor was not the original choice for Chitra Aravindan.

Sivakarthikeyan was approached for Indian 2, say reports

If the reports are to be believed, Sivakarthikeyan, the popular Tamil actor was the original choice to play the character Chitra Aravindan, in Indian 2. The grapevine suggests that director Shankar was keen to rope in the Maaveeran actor, who is one of the biggest crowd-pullers of Tamil cinema, to play the character. However, Sivakarthikeyan was forced to turn down the offer, as he was shooting for two projects simultaneously at that time. Now, the netizens believe that the actor made a wise career move, by not accepting Indian 2.

Siddharth’s performance in Indian 2

Director Shankar later roped in Siddharth, the popular actor who made his debut in Tamil cinema with the director’s much-loved film Boys, to play Chitra Aravindan in Indian 2. Even though the Kamal Haasan starrer failed to impress the audience, the Rang De Basanti actor has been receiving great reviews for his performance as the honest and driven Chitra Aravindan, who decides to bring back Senapathy to reform society. The netizens are now calling the actor the ‘only saving grace’ of the otherwise disappointing film.


As reported earlier, the third installment in the Indian franchise, which has been titled Indian 3, is gearing up for a grand theatrical release by the beginning of 2025. Shankar and his team are planning to resume the pending post-production works of the Kamal Haasan starrer after the senior filmmaker wraps up the pending works of his upcoming Telugu film Game Changer, which stars Ram Charan in the lead role.
