Indian 2, the highly anticipated film directed by Shankar, is gearing up for a grand release in July 2024. Veteran actor Kamal Haasan is set to reprise his much-loved character Veerasekharan Senapathy in the movie. Popular actor Siddharth is appearing in a pivotal role in the film. Interestingly, the netizens are now coming up with some fun theories about the Chittha actor’s role in the film and believe that he might be appearing as the grandson of Senapathy, played by Kamal Haasan.

Siddharth to play the grandson of Kamal Haasan's Senapathy?

Reportedly, Siddharth is playing a young man who fights against the corrupted system, along with his friends. However, he seeks the help of Indian aka Veerasekharan Senapathy when things go out of control, prompting the latter to return. Recently, it was speculated Kamal Haasan is reprising both his roles in Indian – Senapathy and his corrupted son Chandru, in the original. The Ulaganayagan’s unique get-ups in the film led the netizens to believe that Chandru might also return in the sequel, as his death is never shown in the climax of the first installment, Indian (You can watch the film on Aha Tamil and OTTplay Premium).

Now, many film fanatics on X (formerly Twitter) are coming up with a theory that suggest Siddharth’s character could be the son of Chandru, the second character played by Kamal Haasan. If you remember, in Indian, the character was in a serious relationship with Aishwarya (played by Manisha Koirala). Even though the parents, Senapathy and Amrithavalli approve their relationship, the freedom fighter is forced to kill his own son, after his corrupted ways gets exposed.

Now, the netizens believe that Siddharth’s character could be the son of Chandru and Aishwarya. One of the scenes in the Indian 2 trailer shows a teary-eyed Siddharth questioning an aged Kamal Haasan. “Since I was a child, it was you who taught me to not lie, cheat, or steal,” says the character to the old man, who looks quite different compared to the familiar looks of Senapathy. This has prompted the netizens to believe that Siddharth’s character is talking to his father Chandru, not Senapathy aka Indian.

Some of the Kamal Haasan fans also suggest that the visible inconsistency in the veteran actor’s looks in the Indian 2 trailer is deliberate, as he is appearing as two different characters. Well, the man whom Siddharth’s character talks to could be the very-much-alive Chandru, as even Inspector Krishnaswamy, played by late Nedumudi Venu, hints that it is the only case he couln’t finish. However, we will have to wait till the film hits the theatres to know if it is true, as the makers have not reacted to these reports so far.
