Kamal Haasan and Shankar, the popular actor-director duo are currently busy with the promotions of their ambitious film, Indian 2. The movie, which is a sequel to the 1996-released blockbuster Indian, is slated to hit the theatres on July 12, 2024. Siddharth plays a pivotal role in the film, while SJ Suryah, the popular actor-director appears as the lead antagonist. Recently, sources close to Indian 2 revealed some major details about SJ Suryah’s role in the film.

SJ Suryah to make a cameo appearance in Indian 2?

If the recent reports are to be believed, SJ Suryah is not making a full-fledged appearance in Indian 2, even though his character has been introduced as the main antagonist. According to the updates, the popular actor-filmmaker is making a cameo appearance in Kamal Haasan starrer, mostly in its second half. The grapevine suggests that he has just around 20 minutes of screentime, in the Indian sequel. However, Suryah will play a full-fledged role in Indian 3, the upcoming third installment of director Shankar’s much-loved franchise.

So, it is safe to assume that Veerasekharan Senapathy, the central character played by Kamal Haasan, is set to take on more than one antagonist, in Indian 2. According to the rumour mills, Indian 2 will show him facing quite a few corrupted, powerful antagonists, and finally reaching the strongest among them – played by SJ Suryah. The second installment of the Shankar directorial is expected to serve more like a re-introduction of Senapathy and will set the plot for the big showdown in the third part.

Indian – Where to revisit the classic?

The first installment in the franchise, Indian, featured Senapathy’s fight against corruption which finally ends on his son Chandra Bose aka Chandru, played by Kamal Haasan himself. Indian, which narrated the story of the legendary freedom fighter who doesn’t even spares his own son, as he committed a crime. The character was introduced as a 75-year-old man who has age-related problems. You can always revisit Indian on Aha Tamil, Amazon Prime, and Disney+ Hotstar.
