Ilaiyaraaja, the legendary musician is celebrating his 81st birthday today. The Isaignani who lost his only daughter Bhavatharini recently, has reportedly decided to not celebrate his birthday this year. However, the makers of Ilaiyaraaja biopic wished the veteran musician on the special occasion, by dropping a new poster of the highly anticipated film. The promising poster was revealed by leading man Dhanush and the rest of the team members on social media, recently.

The National award-winning actor, who is a die-hard fan of Ilaiyaraaja, is set to play the role of the legend in the upcoming biopic directed by Arun Matheswaran. Dhanush, who has always expressed his admiration for the Isaignani, took to his official social media handles recently and shared the new poster of Ilaiyaraaja biopic, along with a special note. “Happy birthday to the one and only Ilaiyaraaja sir,” reads the popular actor’s birthday post for Raaja. “Happy Birthday to the only music maestro Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja,” reads the official X (formerly Twitter) post of the production banner Connekkt Media.

Ilaiyaraaja biopic to start rolling in 2025?

If the recent updates are to be believed, the highly anticipated Ilaiyaraaja biopic will go on floors, by the beginning of 2025. As per the reports, director Arun Matheswaran and the technical crew of the project are currently busy with the extensive pre-production of the film. Dhanush, the leading man who is set to play the Isaignani in the biopic, is set to undergo a major physical transformation for the role. The grapevine suggests that the National Award-winning actor will be appearing in multiple looks, in the film.

The makers are yet to announce the female lead, the rest of the star cast, and the technical crew of the film. As per the reports, the songs and background score of the project are composed by Ilaiyaraaja, himself. Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, the legendary actors of the Tamil film industry, are expected to make cameo appearances in the film, along with some of the most popular talents from various film industries.
