Ever since the announcement of Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja’s biopic, fans have been excited to witness the inspiring story of the legendary musician roll out on screen. Dhanush is set to play the role of Ilaiyaraaja in the biopic. 

As the film continues to generate buzz among Dhanush fans, actor-director Bharathiraja has spilled the beans on the upcoming project. The veteran actor, in a recent interview, revealed that he is very much a part of the film. “I am part of the new film. It's an honour to be part of the story that will narrate the story of a legend,” the actor spoke. He also revealed that it’s a huge responsibility for director Arun Matheswaran to direct the maestro’s biopic. 

This new update about the veteran actor being part of the film has piqued the interest of many fans who are waiting to see how the film will portray the legend’s story. 

Kamal Haasan pens screenplay for Ilaiyaraaja biopic

The excitement surrounding the film touched a new high when it was reported that Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan would be penning the screenplay for the Ilaiyaraaja biopic. The makers have reportedly roped in the actor to write the screenplay for the film, although an official confirmation on the same is awaited.  

Although Kamal's acting prowess is undeniable, he is also known for his exceptional writing. All of the films he has penned have been a significant part of Indian movie history. Kamal's best scripting credits, include Michael Madana Kama Rajan and Thevar Magan. 

An intriguing first-look poster

Earlier, the first-look poster which was unveiled featured a young man holding a harmonium. Although the person’s face is not shown in the poster, one gets to see the picturesque old Madras in the background. The title card features the tagline, ‘The King of Music’. Overall, the new poster evoked nostalgia of old Madras, with the film set to narrate the untold beginnings of the musical legend.  

Directed by Arun Matheswaran, the biographical film is about the journey of the musical genius and Tamil Nadu’s pride, Ilaiyaraja, right from the early days of his career. The movie will cover the music composer’s journey, which spans over 50 years.
