Akshay Kumar has just announced his new project on his 56th birthday today. He is collaborating with Priyadarshan, who is awaiting the release of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 with Kartik Aaryan. 14 years since Akshay starred in the original movie, they now return for Bhooth Bangla. It is to be noted that this will be his next horror-comedy after Shraddha Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao's Stree 2, which is now the second highest Bollywood grosser after Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan.

Akshay Kumar announces Bhooth Bangla

On his 59th birthday, Akshay Kumar has announced his upcoming movie. Also a horror-comedy like his recent release Stree 2, he will be seen in Bhooth Bangla. The film is helmed by his Bhool Bhulaiyaa director Priyadarshan.

The movie, co-produced by Ektaa Kapoor, will go on floors soon and is expected to release in 2025.

Akshay Kumar hinted at the announcement long back

Previously, Akshay had shared a motion poster, hinting at what was to be the announcement. In the recent video, he is seen with a cat on his shoulder. Akshay drinks milk from the cat's bowl, while a haunted house is seen in the backdrop. This hints that he will play a ghost in the upcoming movie.

About Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Stree 2

Akshay Kumar first appeared in a horror-comedy in Priyadarshan's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 14 years back. The actor stole the show and his work is remembered to date. Priyadarshan went ahead with the franchise and introduced Kartik Aaryan as Rooh baba in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and the upcoming Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.

Meanwhile, over a decade after Shraddha Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao's Stree released and paved the way for Maddock Supernatural Universe, did Akshay Kumar join the franchise. He was seen in a cameo appearance in Stree 2, which is just the introduction of what role he will play in the universe. It is to be noted that Shraddha plays Stree's daughter, while Varun Dhawan is seen as Bhediya and we also got Munjya, which will intertwine with some other film at some point. Stree 2 is now the second highest grossing Bollywood film, and the next from this franchise is likely to be Bhediya 2, featuring Varun and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles.
