The initial glimpse of actor Darshan's forthcoming Tamil film, entitled House Mates, was unveiled by the producers on social media on Tuesday, February 11. Darshan has gained recognition for his performances in films such as Kanaa and Thumba, where he portrayed significant supporting roles. A new Tamil film is currently under production. Actor Darshan is set to portray the lead character in "House Mates," which is categorized as a fantasy horror comedy. Although this genre is not unfamiliar to Tamil cinema, the film's first look poster was unveiled by the production team on Tuesday.
In addition to Darshan, Kaali Venkat will play a pivotal role. The cast also includes Arsha Chandini Baiju, Vinodini, Dheena, Abdool Lee, and Master Henrik in important roles. The first look poster features a vertical split design; one side depicts Darshan and another actress pushing against a wall, while the opposite side showcases Kaali Venkat with his family.

The film team indicates that the narrative revolves around occurrences within an apartment complex, capturing the everyday emotions experienced by middle-class families. It is designed to provide a comprehensive fantasy and horror experience suitable for family viewing.
T. Raja Vel is both the writer and director of this film. He has previously collaborated as a co-director with filmmaker Ajay Gnanamuthu and contributed to the writing of the recently successful film Demonte Colony 2.
House Mates is being produced by S. Vijaya Prakash under the Playsmith Studios banner, with SP Sakthivel from South Studios participating as a co-producer. The cinematography is handled by MS Sathish, while the music for the film is composed by Rajesh Murugesan, known for his work on Neram and Premam. The film is currently in its final stages of production, with plans for a release in the summer of 2025.
