Hitha Chandrashekar kept her involvement with the upcoming Kannada film Yuva a secret for the longest time and is now finally talking about it as her role has been revealed in the trailer that came out a couple of days ago. Hitha plays Yuva Rajkumar’s sister in his much-awaited debut vehicle, which will be in theatres on March 29. The actress shot for the film for 15 days, with most of her scenes being with Yuva and the duo playing their parents – Achyuth Kumar and Sudharani.

Speaking to National TV about Yuva being compared to his late uncle, Puneeth Rajkumar, Hitha too agreed that there are similarities, but added that there is far more to the actor than these physical attributes. For starters, what struck Hitha about Yuva is that he too, like the rest of his family, has a positive vibe about him. “Members of the Doddmane, have a different kind of aura surrounding them, which, of course, he also has,” she says, adding that she’s also often felt like she was looking at Puneeth.

But she quickly adds that Yuva has several unique qualities, which will prove his worth and let him make a mark for himself beyond the obvious comparisons. “Yuva has all the qualities needed to find a space for himself in the Kannada film industry. He’s come with a lot of preparation and that will shine through when the film releases on March 29,” she says.

Directed by Santhosh Ananddram and produced by Hombale Films, Yuva is said to be a family entertainer revolving around the title character, the troubles he gets into as a hostelite at an engineering college in Mangaluru, the repercussions thereof, which also affect his family in Bengaluru, the life lessons he has on account of it and more. The film also stars Kishore in a pivotal role as a sports coach, although his involvement in the progression of the story remains unknown.

The makers are looking at releasing Yuva in Kannada only in about 300-350 centres, with dubbed versions being readied for OTT. Yuva has been sold to Amazon Prime Video, but whether or not it will drop as per a 30-day or 45-day deal remains to be seen.
