The faith-based drama Ordinary Angels, which debuted earlier this year, is now available on OTT in India. Meg Tilly and Kelly Fremon Craig pen the screenplay for the Jon Gunn directorial, which is based on real events during the North American cold wave of 1994. Tamala Jones, Nancy Travis, Alan Ritchson, and Hilary Swank are the headliners of the film. You can stream the film on Prime Video and ZEE5 (OTTplay Premium), but on rent.

Ordinary Angels plot overview

Ordinary Angels is based on a true story and follows the protagonist, Sharon (Swank), as she finds a new sense of purpose after meeting Ed (Ritchson), a widower trying to provide for his two kids. She is a fiery but struggling hairdresser in small-town Kentucky. Sharon decides she must assist the family as Ed's youngest daughter waits for a liver transplant and does everything it takes to make it happen. A moving story of faith, common miracles, and ordinary angels unfolds as events develop.

Filmmakers' vision

Earlier, in an interview, Gunn shared that the prospect of collaborating with Hilary and Alan is exciting. They bring a personal touch and vulnerability to every role they perform; their acting range is phenomenal. They bring this true narrative to life in the most ideal way—inspiring and intricate.

Meanwhile, an inspiring collection of actual stories is what the production house, Kingdom Story Company, strives to adapt for the big screen. According to Downes, Ordinary Angels focuses on the ordinary people who helped a family overcome seemingly impossible obstacles. Hilary Swank and Alan Ritchson vividly depict this remarkable tale of how a single individual can transform a family, transform a community, and genuinely instill life and hope.

Box office performance

The film has made $20 million off a $12–14 million production budget and has been well-received by critics.
