After the women-centric anthology Soul Stories, Manorama Max has bagged the OTT rights for director Lijin Jose’s film Her, which stars Parvathy Thiruvothu, Remya Nambeesan, Urvashi, Aishwarya Rajesh and Lijomol Jose in lead roles. The makers confirmed that the upcoming film will be a direct-to-OTT release that will drop as a ManoramaMAX Originals project on the platform.

While the release date is yet to be confirmed, the movie is expected to drop on the platform either by the end of this month or in December 2024.

Parvathy Thiruvothu’s Her OTT release

The film was shot right after the pandemic lockdowns, back in 2022, and is touted to be a social drama about the lives of five women, belonging to different strata of society. Lijin, who had previously helmed Law Point, in an interview had stated that though the film doesn’t follow the hyperlink format he had used in his movie Friday, the stories of the women are interconnected, while at the same time, remaining independent of each other.

The movie, scripted by Archana Vasudev, also marked the final movie of the late actor Prathap Pothen, who essays the husband of Urvashi’s character in the film. It also has Minnal Murali star Guru Somasundaram and Rajesh Madhavan in pivotal roles. Govind Vasantha has composed its music.

Her also marks the second collaboration with Urvashi and Parvathy, who had earlier this year starred in Christo Tomy’s Ullozhukku. Incidentally, Urvashi was also the first cast member that Lijin had approached for the movie. The director, meanwhile, is also set for the release of another intense drama titled Chera, which has Nimisha Sajayan and Roshan Mathew in the lead. The latter plays the role of a paraplegic in the movie.

Upcoming Manorama Max movies

Meanwhile, Manorama Max has been on a signing spree these days, with several big films lined up for release on the Malayalam platform, which is also available on OTTplay Premium. While Vishesham, Level Cross and Gumasthan dropped on the platform this week, upcoming movies include Shine Tom Chacko’s Adithattu, which will release on November 15, and Dhyan Sreenivasan’s Secret. The platform will also be the second streaming platform of Manju Warrier’s Ayisha.
