There's a lot of chaos in the West regarding the release date of Hellboy: The Crooked Man. While the first trailer left fans in the dark, followed by promotional posters and character reveals, many believed the second trailer would finally announce the film's release date. However, the makers were still not ready, and no date was revealed. Rumors circulated that the film might be released as a surprise on August 30, but now, a listing in India seems to have unveiled the release date for the country, even though there hasn't been an official announcement yet.

Hellboy: The Crooked Man India Release Date Out

PVR INOX, one of India's leading film distribution chains, has announced the release date for Hellboy: The Crooked Man in the country. The listing, shared on the theatre chain's Twitter handle, read: “Prepare for a chilling adventure! Hellboy: The Crooked Man, directed by Brian Taylor, takes you on a 1950s journey where rookie agent Bobbie Jo Song must team up with Hellboy to battle the sinister Crooked Man. Don't miss this epic showdown between good and evil! Releasing on 13th September!”

However, there has been no confirmation from the filmmakers. Rumors suggest that the movie might skip a theatrical release entirely in the West and opt for an OTT release instead. Meanwhile, the second trailer has generated some positive buzz for the film, which had previously been surrounded by negative press.

Brian Taylor on Hellboy: The Crooked Man

In a recent interview with Comic Book Movie, director Brian Taylor clarified that he is not trying to compete with Guillermo del Toro in any way. "I don’t think in terms of 'it’s a reboot' or trying to start a new franchise—this isn’t content, it’s a movie that needs to stand on its own," Taylor explained. "Nobody wants to see a cheap knock-off of a Guillermo del Toro $100-million movie. This is going back to the young Hellboy, where he was really more of the plumber who’s going to fix your monster problem."

Taylor further added, "This wandering, sarcastic, soulful, smoking guy who stumbles on supernatural hauntings and occurrences and helps out as best he can. If Mike [Mignola] feels like for the first time he sees his guy on screen, then I feel like we’ve succeeded."
