Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor's Critique: Salman Khan's Films Should Stay in the '80s
4 days ago | 5 Views
Salman Khan's film Sikandar has reportedly garnered Rs. 55 crore at the Box Office within its first two days; however, it continues to face criticism for its lackluster content. A notable instance of this criticism occurred when Harsh Varrdhan, son of Anil Kapoor, engaged with a netizen who questioned whether Ranbir Kapoor is truly the only actor passionate about his craft. The netizen's initial remark suggested that Salman Khan lacks interest in acting, seemingly alluding to the critiques regarding Salman's apparent exhaustion during the filming of Sikandar.
Here's how the conversation unfolded...
The comment that caught Harsh Varrdhan's attention

A netizen observed, "Salman Khan is not interested in acting, Aamir currently lacks any film projects, Akshay has numerous films lined up, but they seem to hold little value. SRK takes two years to complete a film, while Ajay has the potential for significant roles but is opting for a more cautious approach. It appears that Ranbir is the only one actively pursuing his career." This comment piqued Harsh Varrdhan's interest, prompting him to express his thoughts on the matter.
Harsh Varrdhan's response
"Bollywood should not be limited to established stars and predictable films," stated the actor from Ray. He urged filmmakers to take risks and focus on storytelling while keeping production costs manageable. This seems to be a direct reference to the steep ticket prices for Sikandar, which can reach Rs. 2200 per seat. "We produced Thar for Rs 20 crore, and it visually surpasses many films that cost two to three times more. Why? Because every rupee was invested in the film's production rather than on superfluous expenses," Harsh tweeted.
"It’s 2025, yet the films being approved resemble those from the 1980s, and not even the best ones," the actor concluded in his tweet.
Have you had the chance to see Sikandar in theaters? If not, you can enjoy Salman’s earlier Eid release, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, from the comfort of your home. All you need is a subscription to OTTplay Premium. Enjoy your streaming!
