Actor Jai is celebrating his birthday on April 6 (today). The actor, who has been part of some notable Tamil films. The actor made his acting debut with the 2002 film Bagavathi starring Vijay in the lead role. Following that he closely collaborated with filmmaker Venkat Prabhu and eventually became a recurring cast member in the director's films. Jai is also nephew of music composer Deva and cousin of Srikanth Deva. He was last seen in the Disney+ web series Label and Nayanthara-starrer film Annapoorani. Chennai 600028 - SunNXT

Chennai 600028 released in 2017 and is a sports comedy film which marked the debut of filmmaker Venkat Prabhu. The film starred Jai, Shiva, Premji, Aravind Akash, Nithin Sathya, Ajay Raj, Vijay Vasanth, Prasanna, Inigo Prabakaran, Karthik, Arun, Vijayalakshmi Feroz and Kristine Zedek. Based on street cricket, the film revolves around the feud between two cricketing teams and explores concept of love, friendship and sportsmanship. The film was a commercial success upon its release and was remade in Bengali as Le Chakka, Sinhalese as Super Six (2012), and in Kannada as Bangalore 560023. A sequel was made in 2016, titled Chennai 600028 II, with Jai, Shiva, Vaibhav, and others.

Engeyum Eppodhum – Prime Video

Engeyum Eppodhum is directed by M Saravanan and stars Jai, Anjali, Sharwanand and Ananya. The film is a road drama, and follows two couples whose lives change altogether after the buses they are travelling in meets with an accident. Jai played the role of a timid and soft love interest of Anjali in the film. Engeyum Eppodhum was a critical success and commercially perfomed well when it released in 2011.

Subramaniapuram - SunNXT

Subramaniapuram is a period romance action drama that was released in 2008. Written and directed by Sasikumar who also starred in it, Subramaniapuram featured Jai, Swathi, Samuthirakani, Ganja Karuppu, and others. A blockbuster success upon its release, the film is set against the backdrop of Madurai and revolves around a close-knit group of individuals, exploring the concepts of revenge, friendship, betrayal, romance, and enmity. It is to be noted that Hindi filmmaker Anurag Kashyap had said that the film served him as an inspiration to make Gangs of Wasseypur series. James Vasanthan had scored the music and the song Kangal Irandal became an instant chartbuster.

Raja Rani – Disney+ Hotstar

Directed by Atlee in his directorial debut, Raja Rani features an ensemble star cast of Arya, Nayanthara, Jai and Nazriya Fahadh. The romantic comedy is about a husband and wife who marry for the sake of it, while each other discovers the past love life of the other. Jai played the role of Nayanthara’s love interest. The film was hailed for its music, cast’s performances, and direction.
