May 1, 2025, is set to be extremely significant since not just one but two major films, HIT 3 and Retro, will be released in a grand fashion. In terms of Telugu films, HIT 3 is definitely at the forefront and will receive more attention, but Retro is also in the race as Suriya boasts a large fan base in the Telugu regions.

The battle between HIT 3 and Retro is getting intense

Even so, Suriya's film, Ayan fame, is running into several hurdles in the Telugu states. The first issue is Suriya's recent performance; his last movie, Kanguva, bombed at the box office, and it's been a while since he had a real hit. However, the biggest problem is the lack of available theaters.

In comparison to HIT 3, Retro is securing not even half the number of screens. This has become a minor concern for the distributors who have obtained the Telugu theatrical rights for a substantial amount.

For them to achieve profits, Retro must be released on a large number of screens, which have now been occupied by Nani and his team. The only option for Retro to make an impact is to begin with strong word of mouth. Only then will the film's demand escalate, and the distributors will automatically acquire more screens.

Recently, Nani has been in excellent form as his recent films have been major successes. However, Nani's HIT 3 is also encountering its challenges. The action drama has received an 'A' rating from the censors, which is why family audiences will avoid the film. This will undoubtedly affect the earnings of HIT 3 despite a solid opening that the film will experience on May 1, 2025.

HIT 3 is set to hit a record number of screens in the Telugu states

HIT 3 has been helmed by Sailesh Kolanu, who previously directed Saindhav featuring Venkatesh from Sankranthiki Vasthunnam. Conversely, Retro is also making headlines because it is directed by Karthik Subbaraj and stars Pooja Hegde in the leading female role.
