Ahead of Thangalaan's release, the makers of the upcoming Tamil film released a poster for the occasion of Malavika Mohanan's birthday on social media on Sunday. The film is all set to hit big screens on August 15, Independence Day.

For the occasion of Malavika Mohanan's birthday on Sunday, the makers of Thangalaan released a special poster featuring the actor's character from the film. The actor plays the role of Aarathi, a sorceress, adding a touch of magical realism to the film. The actor is seen in a white skirt and blouse, with heavy ornaments across her chest as she sports a heavy face make-up and carrying a stick in her hand.
Thangalaan is directed by Pa Ranjith and will mark the first time she is working with the director. Malavika in a recent interview said that how she was asked to sit on top of a buffalo on the first day of the shoot, and had to undergo many physical challenges to play her role Aarathi.
Thangalaan is a period action drama that is set during the pre-Independence era. The film revolves around the origins of Kolar Gold Fields, with a group of tribals being employed by the British to find gold in the region.

Thangalaan is headlined by actor Vikram and also stars Parvathy Thiruvothu, Pasupathy, Hari Krishnan, Daniel Caltagirone and others. The film is scheduled to release on August 15 for Independence Day weekend. Backed by Jio Studios, Neelam Productions and Studio Green, Thangalaan has music scored by Anirudh Ravichander. The film’s post theatrical rights are bagged by Netflix. The film will release in languages, including Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi.
Meanwhile, Malavika Mohanan will be seen in a series of upcoming film including Sardar 2, starring Karthi and directed by PS Mithran and Telugu film Raaja Saab headlined by Prabhas.
