A lot of what the Good Bad Ugly trailer promised actually came through in the film, which premiered on Thursday. Directed by Adhik Ravichandran and starring Ajith Kumar, the movie serves as a showcase of the actor's career, packed with references and Easter eggs at nearly every turn. If it’s not about Ajith, Adhik cleverly weaves in pop culture nods to other stars, including Vijay, who is often seen as Ajith's rival.

Good Bad Ugly: Did you catch all the references?

The trailer for Good Bad Ugly did a great job of building anticipation for the film. It’s a clear fan tribute from Adhik to Ajith, and the movie delivers on that promise. However, once you dive into the film, it offers even more, as the director ensures that every meme reference and callback is fully explored.

As shown in the trailer, Simran makes cameo appearance as Priya, who paired up with Ajith in Vaalee , and there is a callback to Ajith's evil twin in the film, while conversing with GBU's antagonist played by Arjun Das. If that is not enough, Sultana song starring Simran, gets played, and there is a sweet Jodi reunion of Trisha's Ramya and Simran, with the former giving her 'Lesa Lesa' nod to Simran to adore AK. By the way, if you were wondering what Ajith's name is in GBU, it is AK aka Red Dragon. The former gangster had dissolved his gangs for the sake of his newborn son, drawing much parallel between the star who disbanded his fan clubs a long time back. We are also told how AK was the one who killed Ramya father by pushing him out of the car, much like in Mankatha ?

If that’s not enough, we get a glimpse into AK's past as a notorious gangster who teamed up with a Mumbai don, only to find himself rescuing the brother of a Korean crime lord. No prizes for guessing that it’s Dong Lee, who shows up in an animated segment. But there’s more! AK also lends a hand to a long-haired assassin from New York, possibly named John Wick, before teaming up with The Professor from the Money Heist series. While these international figures are depicted in animation, Adhik quickly brings us back to AK's roots, sharing stories of his earlier days as Dheena and Billa.

There’s a romantic vibe reminiscent of "Vizhiyil Un Vizhiyil" from Kireedam between Ajith and Trisha. Trisha gets a taste of her own words when Tyson (Sunil), AK’s loyal sidekick, expresses his craving for Kara Pori (a nod to Ghilli) while the trio is on the run from gangs in Bombay. And we’re not even halfway through the film when Ajith sets the stage for intermission with the iconic Vijay line from Thuppakki: "I’m waiting."

And that's not all... in Good Bad Ugly

Adhik, known for his smart incorporation of the Panju Mittai song in Mark Antony, has now revived another classic with "Otha Rubaai Tharen." He adds in some fun moments with phrases like "irunga bhai" and the "card mela 16 number" meme. The film also features nods to various lines from Ajith's earlier movies, ranging from Dheena to Billa, and Adhik even teases about AK 64 with a clever car numberplate reference.

Good Bad Ugly is currently showing in theaters.
