Helmed by Rian Johnson, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, or simply Glass Onion, is the highly anticipated sequel to the murder mystery film Knives Out. Similar to its predecessor, this whodunit follows private detective Benoit Blanc with his incredible deduction skills as he solves the dual murder mystery in Glass Onion. The ensemble cast is led by Daniel Craig, Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, and Dave Bautista.

Glass Onion plot

The gritty murder mystery takes place on an exotic island in Greece and introduces the characters enjoying the party organised by their wealthy tech billionaire friend Miles Bron, who is the co-founder of Alpha and hosts a murder mystery game at his humongous Glass Onion mansion. However, things take a deadly turn when a dual murder mystery of Andi and Duke brings suspicion to every guest and even the host.

Who killed Andi and Duke?

Glass Onion begins with Duke’s sudden death after a rift between him and Andi, with suspicion falling on every one among the five friends. However, the climax reveals that Andi is already dead, and it is Andi’s twin sister Helen who pretended to be Andi to find out the killer behind her sister’s mysterious death.

In a twisted ending of Glass Onion, it is revealed that Miles was behind both the mysterious deaths of Andi and Duke. He ruthlessly killed Andi as she was also a threat to him, while Duke became a scapegoat when he tried to negotiate a deal with Miles after learning of Andi’s murder but became a victim of Miles’ evil plan.

Why led to the rift between Miles and Andi?

Glass Onion’s meticulous flashback scenes reveal that Miles’ greed and power influence resulted in a rift between Andi and him. It is further unveiled that Andi was the co-founder of Alpha but was later removed. When Miles argued to go ahead with Klear's development plan despite its dangerous and volatile properties, Andi threatened to reveal that she would go against everything to stop his immoral plans, and she also showcased her evidence in the form of a napkin that had the entire plan in her handwriting. Despite Andi’s friends testifying falsely in court against her, she stood firmly until Miles killed her.

How does Miles’ plan fail in the end despite his power and influence?

The ending showcases Helen finally grabbing Andi’s napkin, where she concocted the entire plan, but Miles eventually destroys the only evidence by burning it. This makes Helen angry, and she begins destroying Miles' glass sculptures in a fit of age. The friends, aka the Disruptors, also join in the massive destruction as they realize that Miles never acknowledged their friendship but was always hungry for power.

In a post-credit scene, the police arrive on the island in boats, while Helen and Blanc share a smile as they solve the mystery with their unexpected power duo.

Glass Onion is streaming on Netflix.
