The highly awaited trailer for "Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama" was released today, generating considerable enthusiasm among fans and film enthusiasts. This adaptation of India’s cherished narrative is a visual triumph inspired by Valmiki’s Ramayana.

The trailer features stunning visuals and grand battle scenes, immersing viewers in significant locations such as Ayodhya, the birthplace of Prince Rama; Mithila, where he marries Sita; the forest of Panchavati, where he lived in exile with Sita and Lakshman; and Lanka, the site of the legendary confrontation between Lord Rama and King Ravana, all depicted in exquisitely crafted Japanese anime style.

Created by Yugo Sako and directed by Koichi Sasaki and Ram Mohan, this film represents a unique Indo-Japanese collaboration, involving over 450 artists who produced nearly 100,000 hand-drawn frames. The outcome is a visual spectacle that harmonizes Japanese artistic excellence with India’s rich storytelling tradition.

"This film pays homage to one of the greatest narratives ever told," remarked Moksha Modgill, CEO of Geek Pictures India, in an official statement. "For many of us in India, this film has been a significant part of our childhood, and its theatrical release now is a wonderful revival of a beloved classic. I am thrilled for the new generation to experience this film alongside their families on January 24th!"

In addition, Arjun Aggarwal, the producer of the film, expressed, "Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama is not merely a cinematic endeavour; it is a celebration of Indian culture. Having grown up watching this film, it has profoundly influenced my appreciation for storytelling and Indian heritage. I am honoured to contribute to its revival. This film transcends age, geography, and generations, and I eagerly anticipate audiences rediscovering its enchantment in theatres."

Renowned filmmaker Shri V. Vijayendra Prasad, who has been intricately involved with the project, stated, “Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama transcends cultural and geographical boundaries as it embodies timeless principles—dharma, bravery, and love. From Valmiki’s original epic to various adaptations such as Tulsidas’s Ramcharitmanas and Kamban’s Ramavataram, this narrative has inspired countless individuals. It is an honour to contribute to the revival of this iconic film for contemporary audiences, who will experience it in an unprecedented manner.”

The film is scheduled for its inaugural 4K release in theatres throughout India on January 24, 2025, and will be distributed theatrically in the country by Geek Pictures India, AA Films, and Excel Entertainment.
