About Gangs Of Wasseypur
Written and directed by Anurag Kashyap, Gangs Of Wasseypur tells the story of a village in heartland India where men go to extreme lengths to prove their power. The drama revolves around deceit, revenge, murders, and features great music. Recently, Anurag spoke about the lack of equality in Hindi cinema while discussing the release of Gangs Of Wasseypur.
Anurag Kashyap, as per India Today, said, "Today, people talk highly about Gangs of Wasseypur, but it was taken off cinemas in nine days because a big film like Ek Tha Tiger was coming. It wasn’t the decision of a star or a producer; it was the decision of the theatres. If that film had done a business of Rs 26 crore in nine days, it would have done more if it got space. So the system is such, and we don’t even have enough cinemas."
