Earlier this year, Sundar C's film Madha Gaja Raja, which is 12 years old, unexpectedly emerged and triumphed during the Pongal season by becoming the first commercial hit of the year. Now, just a few months later, the director has returned with a new movie titled Gangers, directed by Sundar C, who has also appeared in the film with seasoned comedian Vadivelu. Gangers featured Vadivelu in a prominent comedic role after quite a long duration.

The movie debuted in theaters on Thursday. The opening day revenue is Rs 0. 58 crore, which is significantly lower than the Rs 3 crore that Madha Gaja Raja made on its opening day. Nevertheless, with Sundar C’s films offering a promise of commercial entertainment and Vadivelu’s presence, Gangers is anticipated to gain traction over the weekend. It remains to be seen whether Sundar C will achieve a hattrick with Gangers.

Gangers on OTT

After collaborating on films such as London, Winner, and Giri, Sundar C and Vadivelu joined forces again for Gangers. Featuring Catherise Tresa, Mime Gopi, Bagavathi Perumal, Munishkanth, and others, Gangers’ OTT rights have been acquired by Prime Video.

The movie is a heist comedy drama set in a small town. It centers around a school teacher who reports a missing school girl, which quickly evolves into a group of characters devising a plan to execute a heist to steal large amounts of cash that are held by three goon brothers who control the town.
