Check out the trailer for Game Changer! Directed by Shankar, this new film features Ram Charan and Kiara Advani in the main roles, and it looks like it’s going to be a fun ride based on what we’ve seen so far. The trailer was released on Thursday during an event in Hyderabad, which SS Rajamouli also attended. This film is Shankar’s first venture into the Telugu film industry.

The trailer, which runs for 2 minutes and 40 seconds, kicks off with Ram portraying an IAS officer who advises people against greed, only to be ridiculed for his views. As the trailer unfolds, we see him in various roles, including a student and a police officer, and even rocking a lungi at one point. There's a suggestion that his character's father, also played by Ram, was a prominent leader, while Anjali takes on the role of his mother. Kiara is introduced as his love interest, but the main plot thickens later when SJ Suryah appears as a corrupt Chief Minister, setting the stage for a showdown with Ram.

The creation of Game Changer

Anjali, Samuthirakani, Suryah, Srikanth, Prakash Raj, and Sunil are all set to deliver standout performances in the political action thriller led by Ram and Kiara. Filming kicked off in 2021, but after several delays, production wrapped up in 2024. The music for the film, which was shot in locations like Hyderabad, New Zealand, Visakhapatnam, Mumbai, and Chandigarh, was composed by Thaman S.

Produced by Dil Raju and Sirish under Sri Venkateswara Creations, Game Changer is based on a story by Karthik Subbaraj, with Sai Madhav Burra handling the dialogues. The film had a huge budget, with Shankar investing ₹75 crore just for four songs.

Compete with other releases during Sankranthi

Game Changer was originally set to hit theaters on Christmas 2024, but Dil Raju pushed back the release because post-production work wasn't finished. It’s now slated for January 10, a date that was first meant for Chiranjeevi’s film, Vishwambhara.

With Vishwambhara now delayed, Game Changer will still face off against other Sankranthi releases like Daaku Maharaaj, featuring Balakrishna and Bobby Deol, and Sankranthiki Vasthunam, starring Venkatesh, both coming out on January 12.

Ram’s previous film, RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli, was a huge hit, but Shankar’s Indian 2, featuring Kamal Haasan, Siddharth, and Rakul Preet Singh, flopped at the box office. So, it’ll be interesting to see if Game Changer can turn things around for the director.
