Google has unveiled its Year in Search 2024, offering insights into the prominent trends that shaped the entertainment sector. In the realm of cinema, the excitement surrounding Stree 2 propelled it to the forefront of Google searches. The film, featuring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, claimed the top position in movie-related inquiries, closely followed by Kalki 2898 AD, starring Prabhas and Deepika Padukone.

The movie list reflected diverse interests.

The data also indicated a keen interest in societal themes, with 12th Fail ranking third and Laapataa Ladies, India’s official Oscar entry, taking the fourth position.

Hanu-man secured the fifth spot, while Maharaja and Manjummel Boys followed in sixth and seventh places, respectively. The influence of Southern cinema was evident, as Vijay’s The Greatest Of All Times ranked eighth, trailed by Salaar and Aavesham.

In the category of television shows, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s OTT debut, Heeramandi, topped the search rankings. This historical series, featuring prominent actors such as Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Manisha Koirala, was followed by Ali Fazal’s Mirzapur and The Last of Us.

In the realm of music, this year's top trending searches highlighted the growing prominence of independent music in India. Akshath’s Nadaaniyan emerged as the most searched song in 2024, with Anuv Jain’s Husn taking the second spot. The song Illuminati ranked third, while Katchi Sera occupied the fourth position.
