From Comedy to Horror: Sharan Shares His Favorite Scary Movies
4 hours ago | 5 Views
Since Sharan shifted from being a supporting actor to taking on lead roles, he’s been all about exploring different films and characters while keeping his comedic roots intact. His determination has only grown, especially after the success of Guru Shishyaru. As part of this new chapter, he decided to take on a project that’s a bit of a departure for him.
He’s teamed up with director Navneeth, known for the popular horror flick Karvva, to create a horror comedy titled Choo Mantar, set to hit theaters on January 10. Interestingly, Sharan admits that while comedy is his strong suit, it’s not his top pick when it comes to movie genres; he actually enjoys horror more. That’s why he was excited about collaborating with Navneeth, as it gives them a chance to mix their styles and deliver a film that’s both spooky and funny. Fun fact: the project wasn’t originally intended for Sharan but was later tailored to fit him.
Sharan talking about his top Kannada horror movies
Sharan recently shared his passion for horror movies during a promotional chat with Newz Alerts, mentioning how much he loves films that give you chills. “There are several Kannada horror films that I really enjoy, like Naa Ninna Bidalaare, Shhhh, Aathma Bandhana, and Digvijaya. Honestly, Naa Ninna Bidalaare is one of those films that still holds up even after you’ve seen it a bunch of times,” he noted.
In his latest film, Choo Mantar, Sharan takes on the role of a priest known as Dynamo, famous for his exorcism skills. He and his crew are summoned to a place called Morgan House, where an NRI couple, played by Prabhu Mundkur and Meghana Gaonkar, are dealing with some spooky happenings. With a dark and twisted history, Morgan House is said to be haunted by malevolent spirits. Will Dynamo be able to uncover the mystery behind the eerie events and help the residents?
Choo Mantar features Aditi Prabhudeva, Chikkanna, Gurukiran, Rajini Bharadwaj, Vijay Chendoor, and more. It was originally slated to hit theaters in April last year but got pushed back not just once, but twice, partly to make room for Sharan’s Avatara Purusha 2. Now, it’s finally ready to release, although there are still some challenges with getting enough screens and showtimes.
