Baby John, the mass action entertainer featuring Varun Dhawan, has made its debut on OTT platforms six weeks following its theatrical release. This film, a remake of Atlee's successful Tamil film Theri, did not perform well at the box office; however, it is anticipated that it will attract a wider audience through streaming services.

Amazon Prime Video has announced the exclusive global streaming debut of the film Baby John, directed by Kalees, which will be available starting Wednesday. The movie features a star-studded cast, including Varun Dhawan, Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, Rajpal Yadav, and Jackie Shroff, with special appearances by Salman Khan and Sanya Malhotra. Baby John is presented by Jio Studios in collaboration with Atlee and Cine1 Studios and is produced by Murad Khetani, Priya Atlee, and Jyoti Deshpande.

The narrative of Baby John centers around DCP Satya Verma, who stages his own death to shield his daughter from the menacing politician Babbar Sher. As past adversaries emerge, Satya must confront his history and risk everything to protect his family. The film is now available for streaming on Prime Video as of today, February 19.

Varun Dhawan discussed the OTT release of the film, stating, “Baby John represents a pivotal moment in my career, pushing me to extend my boundaries—not only in terms of the physical challenges associated with the role but also in my development as an actor. My ambition to lead a comprehensive action film and collaborate with a visionary like Atlee was fueled by the influence of iconic action figures in Indian cinema. Baby John was introduced in 2023 with the working title VD18. The film premiered in theatres on December 25 of the previous year. However, it garnered mixed to negative reviews from critics, which adversely impacted its reception among audiences. On its opening day, Baby John earned a disappointing ₹11.25 crore, which fell sharply to merely ₹4.25 crore the next day. The film concluded its theatrical run in less than three weeks, accumulating a total worldwide gross of only ₹61 crore. Reports indicated that Baby John had a production budget exceeding ₹150 crore.
