Among the numerous Kannada films released on January 24, the horror comedy titled 'Forest' stood out, showcasing a talented ensemble that includes Chikkanna, Anish Tejeshwar, Gurunandan, Rangayana Raghu, Sooraj Pops, Sharanya Shetty, and Archana Kottige. Although the film received moderate reviews upon its release, it struggled to achieve box office success, a trend observed in many films released this year. Directed by Chandra Mohan, the production of the film was protracted, primarily because approximately 80% of the storyline unfolds in a forest setting.

Forest out on Amazon Prime Video now

This week, the film Forest, which was released alongside Royal, becomes available on OTT platforms. While Royal premiered last week on Amazon Prime Video, Forest was launched on March 14, 2025. The film is currently streaming exclusively in Kannada audio, accompanied by English subtitles. The storyline revolves around a treasure hunt deep in the jungle, a quest that becomes nearly unfeasible due to a spirit that protects the treasure.

Aniissh, Gurunandan, and Archana Kottige portray the characters of cousins Suresha, Sathisha, and Meenakshi, who find themselves embroiled in a conflict over their inherited property. In the midst of one of their disputes, the cousins inadvertently rouse Meenakshi’s grandfather, who has been in a coma for twenty years. It is revealed that he was once affiliated with a notorious smuggling ring and is the last living member of that group. He discloses the existence of a significant treasure buried deep within the forest, and shortly after sharing this shocking revelation, he passes away.

Suresha, Sathisha, and Meenakshi venture into the forest accompanied by the moneylender Kumara (Chikkanna) and the black magic practitioner Gopala (Rangayana Raghu) in search of hidden riches. However, they soon confront the spirit of a forest bandit named Beera, who has been protecting the treasure, along with numerous other spirits under his command. The treasure in question amounts to Rs 20 crore, which has remained undiscovered.

Forest also features performances by Prakash Thuminad, Sharanya Shetty, Deepak Rai Panaje, Avinash, and Sooraj Pops. The film is inspired by a narrative from Satya Shaurya Sagar and includes musical compositions by Dharma Vish and Veer Samarth.
