Vinay Forrt, who starred in the National Award-winning film Aattam, has another hard-hitting and critically-acclaimed movie to his credit. Family, directed by Don Palathara, explores how predators thrive what with family and society at large sweeping their misdeeds under the carpet and creating a safe haven for them.

The film, which premiered at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam in 2023, has, since then, competed at 11 other events, with a total of 26 festival outings and has been adjudged Best Film 5 times. During its theatrical run also, Family was much loved, owing to its strong and thought-provoking content.

In a social media post, Vinay stated that Family will shortly be headed to OTT. The film has been picked up by ManoramaMAX, he wrote. “Thrilled to announce that Family will soon begin streaming on @manoramamax! Stay tuned. This journey has been incredible — Family snagged ‘Best Film’ award 5 times and competed at 12 festivals, including IFFK 2023. Huge thanks for all the love during its run across 26 festivals and its theatrical release. Your encouragement made this possible!”

In Family, Vinay played Sony, a respected and well-loved young man from a rural area in central Kerala, who tutors young kids, helps people in their neighbourhood, works for the church, among others. To the outside world, he’s the ideal man, but the troubling part is that he uses this clean image to prey on the young ones that trust him.

Mathew Thomas, Divya Prabha, Abhija Sivakala, KK Indira, Hridesh TB, Jolly Chirayath and Nilja K Baby join Vinay on the cast. Produced by Sanita and Anto Chittilappilly under the banner of Newton Cinema, Family has cinematography by Jaleel Badusha and music by Basil CJ. The film has been written by the Don along with Sherin Chatherine.
