Backed by Dharma Productions, Mr. & Mrs. Mahi has garnered immense attention since its announcement. Seems like M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016) wasn't enough for Dhoni fans, as they kept on showering their excitement to watch a more detailed life story about Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Although Karan Johar mostly received backlash for producing typical romance genre, this time, he has garnered immense love for bringing Mr. & Mr. Mahi.

Mr. & Mrs. Mahi release date

Mahi fans rejoice! Mr. & Mrs. Mahi is now coming soon on May 31, 2024, in theatres worldwide. The release date has been changed several times. Lastly, it was scheduled to be released in April. While Rajkummar Rao will be seen in the titular role of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Janhvi Kapoor will be seen as a female character named Mahima.

While declaring the release date, Karan Johar wrote a heartwarming note that some films are more than just stories. They are much more than just celluloid love, and we absolutely agree to that! He further revealed that Mr. & Mrs. Mahi is going to talk to the viewers about dreams and how difficult situations in life made us stop fulfilling our dreams.

Why Mr. & Mrs. Mahi was delayed?

This is the second collaboration between Rao and Kapoor. Previously they worked in the horror-comedy Roohi (2021), where Janhvi played the role of the ghost. The shooting of Mr. & Mrs. Mahi was wrapped up in May 2023, and within a few days Dharma Productions revealed the release date, which was April 19, 2024. Although the reason for its delay is not disclosed, it seems like the film is facing some major issues. One major issue can be guessed is the release of Ajay Devgn’s Madiaan, which is also a sports biography. Seems like the makers did want to race with Maidaan.

Directed by Sharan Sharma, who made his directorial debut with Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl (2020), Mr. & Mrs. Mahi is another life story of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, with some twists and turns. This time, the story is not going to follow the romantic side. Rather it will mostly focus on the sports part. Hence, it's going to be a very special film for die-hard Mahi fans.
