The upcoming Tamil film Retro, featuring Suriya, known for his role in Vaaranam Aayiram, is poised for its release. Scheduled to premiere in theatres on May 1, the promotional activities have already commenced. Retro, a romantic action drama, is both written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Advance ticket sales have started, with international theatres also opening their bookings. Notably, the film has confirmed its first-day-first-show (FDFS) timings, with screenings, including those abroad, set to commence at 9 AM IST.

This film marks a significant milestone in Suriya's career, particularly following the underwhelming performance of his previous release, Kanguva. With high expectations surrounding Retro, it is helmed by Karthik Subbaraj, who gained recognition with his debut film, Pizza.
On Wednesday, the producers announced the commencement of advance ticket sales for the film in the United States, along with the First Day First Show (FDFS) timings. All FDFS screenings of Retro globally will start simultaneously at 9 AM IST. Consequently, there will be no early screenings for international audiences, ensuring that viewers worldwide experience the film at the same moment. Advance bookings for Retro in India are anticipated to start shortly.
Cast and crew of Retro

Featuring Pooja Hegde, known for her role in Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, along with Joju George, Jayaram, Nassar, Prakash Raj, and Karunakaran, Retro is a romantic action drama directed by Karthik Subbaraj. The film's music is composed by Santhosh Narayanan, while Shreyaas Krishna serves as the cinematographer. The editing is handled by Shafique Mohamed Ali.
This film represents the first collaboration between Suriya and Karthik Subbaraj. It is produced by Suriya and Jyotika under the banner of 2D Entertainment.
Additionally, Karthik Subbaraj has drawn a comparison between Rajinikanth’s Petta and Suriya’s Retro, stating that the latter leans more towards a commercial style.
