The announcement of Renji Panicker's return to directing after a 16-year absence has brought great joy to fans of Malayalam cinema. The anticipation has been further heightened by the news that Fahadh Faasil will be the lead actor in this project. Recent reports indicate that filming is set to commence in March of next year.

Fahadh Faasil and Renji Panicker Team Up

As reported by CinemaExpress, producer Joby George has confirmed that production will officially begin in March 2025. The film, which has yet to be titled, is being produced by Joby George under the Goodwill Entertainment banner.

The project was first revealed on August 8 of this year, coinciding with Fahadh Faasil’s birthday. Alongside the announcement, a special promotional video was released, showcasing Fahadh Faasil as the camera follows a jeep traversing a mountainous landscape before introducing his character.

Renji Panicker, who is also the writer of the film, is renowned for his work on popular titles such as Commissioner, featuring Suresh Gopi, and The King, starring Mammootty. However, details regarding the remaining cast and crew remain scarce. Panicker's last directorial effort was the Mammootty film Roudram, released in 2008. In addition to his directing and writing, he has made a significant impact as an actor in various films over the past decade, with notable performances in Ohm Shanthi Oshaana and Jacobinte Swargarajyam.

Fahadh Faasil’s films

Fahadh Faasil's most recent film to be released is Pushpa 2: The Rule, featuring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna. In this highly anticipated sequel, Fahadh portrays the character of SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat. Although the film has received a mix of reviews from critics and audiences alike, it continues to perform strongly at the box office.

In addition, Fahadh has an intriguing array of upcoming projects. He is currently involved in the Malayalam film Odum Kuthira Chadum Kuthira, directed by Althaf Salim, which is described as a romantic comedy.

Furthermore, the Pushpa star is set to collaborate with debut director Roy on a film titled Karate Chandran. He also has a project in the works with Vipin Das, the director of Guruvayoor Ambakanadayil, which will feature Tamil actor SJ Surya making his debut in Malayalam cinema.
