Bleecker Street has unveiled the official trailer for The Wedding Banquet, an engaging and vibrant contemporary adaptation of Ang Lee's 1993 romantic comedy. Directed by the renowned queer Korean American filmmaker Andrew Ahn, this reimagined version infuses new vitality into the classic while preserving its original charm and emotional resonance. The film features an impressive ensemble cast, including Bowen Yang, Lily Gladstone, Kelly Marie Tran, Han Gi-chan, Bobo Le, Joan Chen, and Youn Yuh-jung, promising a blend of humor and emotional depth.

The narrative centers on Min, who is exasperated with his commitment-averse boyfriend, Chris, and feels the pressure of time running out. In a bid to address his dilemmas and assist a friend, Min suggests a green card marriage to Angela, who in return will receive costly in vitro fertilization treatments for her partner, Lee. However, their plans are unexpectedly complicated when Min’s grandmother arrives, introducing an elaborate Korean wedding banquet that adds further complexity to their already challenging situation.
