Gokulam Gopalan, the proprietor of Sree Gokulam Movies, has recently joined Empuraan as a production partner, collaborating with Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions. He has now disclosed the budget for the highly anticipated film starring Mohanlal and explained his reasons for becoming involved in this project, which Prithviraj Sukumaran directs.

In light of speculation regarding a potential conflict between Lyca Productions and Aashirvad Cinemas, as well as concerns about a delay in the release of Empuraan, Gokulam Gopalan’s Sree Gokulam Movies has become involved in this high-budget Malayalam film. In a recent interview with 24News, Gokulam Gopalan disclosed that the Empuraan budget is Rs 180 crore and mentioned that he chose to participate after receiving a call from Mohanlal.

"A film produced with a budget of Rs 180 crore should never be halted. This marks the first iMax film in Malayalam cinema," Gokulam Gopalan stated.

In discussing Mohanlal's desire for Gokulam to join the project, he remarked, "Mohanlal was the first to reach out to address the crisis, followed by a call from Antony Perumbavoor." 

Previously, Gokulam Gopalam had conveyed his respect for the star of Lucifer, noting that his friendship with Mohanlal influenced his decision to participate in the film. However, he emphasized that it was the film's content, rather than its budget, that ultimately led him to choose this project. 

He commented on Empuraan, describing it as one of the finest films in Malayalam cinema, stating, "I recognized the exceptional quality of Prithviraj's direction when I viewed certain segments of the film."

Gokulam Gopalan expressed, "I aimed to present this exceptional film to the audience seamlessly," noting that his collaboration on the project was also influenced by his strong relationship with Mohanlal and Antony Perumbavoor.

Empuraan release

L2 Empuraan, the sequel to the Lucifer franchise, is scheduled for release in theatres on March 27, 2025. This eagerly awaited Malayalam film stars Mohanlal in the principal role and boasts an impressive ensemble cast that includes Prithviraj Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Eriq Ebouaney, Jerome Flynn, and Suraj Venjaramoodu.
