Despite the ongoing controversies surrounding Empuraan, producer Antony Perumbavoor has finally addressed the media, asserting that the choice to implement edits was a 'collective decision.' He put an end to rumors of discord within the L2E team and clarified that Empuraan star Mohanlal was informed about the film's storyline, refuting Major Ravi's assertions.
Antony Perumbavoor on Empuraan row
Antony Perumbavoor, whose production company Aashirvad Cinemas supported the film Empuraan, has finally responded to the controversies that arose regarding the movie, which faced significant backlash from right-wing groups due to specific scenes depicted in it.
The situation intensified when actor-director Major Ravi claimed that Mohanlal had not viewed the sequel to Lucifer prior to its release on March 27, 2025. In contrast, Antony Perumbavoor, a long-time collaborator of Mohanlal, asserted that the actor was fully informed about the film's narrative.

He stated, "We never claimed that Mohanlal was unaware of the plot." When pressed by the media regarding Major Ravi's remarks, he indicated that it was not his place to comment on the matter.
Taking accountability for the film, Antony explained that the decision to implement edits was made collectively. When reporters noted that writer Murali Gopy has not yet addressed the issue publicly, Antony Perumbavoor responded, "I do not think there is any disagreement on this matter. If there were, making changes would not be feasible." He also emphasized that there was no intention to marginalize director Prithviraj Sukumaran.

In response to the criticism and concerns raised, the filmmakers previously announced that they would be making revisions to the movie, which is set to release six years after the successful 2019 film, Lucifer. Mohanlal, the star of Empuraan, expressed in a post that it was never his intention for the film to offend any audience group. Director Prithviraj Sukumaran has shared Mohanlal's post on Facebook but has not yet publicly commented on the matter. Meanwhile, writer Murali Gopy has not responded to the controversy and has not shared Mohanlal's post on social media.
