Emergency box office collection on day four: Kangana Ranaut's directorial project premiered in the third week of January 2025. Following multiple postponements, Emergency was finally released on January 17, 2025. The film portrays Kangana in the role of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and faced competition from Azaad at the box office. The cast includes Ajay Devgn, Aaman Devgan, and Rasha Thadani. While the film experienced a strong performance during its first three days, it encountered a significant decline in ticket sales on the fourth day.

The film Emergency debuted at the box office with earnings of Rs 3.11 crore. Starring Kangana Ranaut, it garnered Rs 4.28 crore on its second day and Rs 4.87 crore on the third day. However, there was a significant decline in its earnings on the fourth day. As per preliminary estimates from Sacnilk, Emergency managed to earn merely Rs 1 crore on its fourth day of release.
Considering the same, Emergency's total box office collection now stands at Rs 13.26 crore. It remains to be seen how Ranaut's film will fare in the coming days. That said, it will have an OTT premiere on Netflix after the film's theatrical run ends.
Kangana Ranaut on Emergency
Earlier, in an interview with India Today, Kangana Ranaut reacted to making a film on a sensitive subject. The actress compared her film Emergency to Oppenheimer.
I find it perplexing that individuals often exhibit discomfort towards the truth, as if it does not present itself so clearly and unmistakably before us. In my view, Ms. Gandhi embodies a complex identity, and it is insufficient to categorize individuals strictly as 'good' or 'bad.' Approaching the subject from this angle may reveal numerous insights within the film; however, a relevant comparison to my own work could be drawn with Oppenheimer, she remarked.
