Emergency box office collection day 1: Kangana Ranaut's political film made its theatrical debut following several postponements. Directed by Ranaut, the film was initially slated for release in cinemas the previous year. "Emergency" ultimately premiered on January 17, 2025. At the box office, it faced competition from Aaman Devgan and Rasha Thadani's "Azaad." While the competition did not significantly impact "Emergency," it experienced a modest yet respectable opening at the box office.

Early estimates from Sacnilk indicate that the film Emergency debuted at the box office with earnings of Rs 2.35 crore. Featuring Kangana Ranaut in the principal role, this political drama has achieved the highest opening for the actress in the past five years. Emergency surpasses all of Kangana's solo releases since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

For those unfamiliar, Ranaut's film Tejas, released in 2023, generated Rs 1.25 crore at the box office. In contrast, her 2022 release, Dhakad, garnered Rs 1.20 crore on its opening day. Additionally, Kangana's 2021 film, Thalaivi, achieved a total collection of Rs 1.46 crore across its three language versions: Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

Kangana Ranaut to not make political film again

In a recent interview, Kangana Ranaut expressed her reasons for not pursuing political films following the Emergency. The actress stated, "I will not be making another political film. My motivation is lacking. The process is incredibly challenging. I have come to realize why few individuals choose to undertake such projects, particularly those based on real-life figures. Nevertheless, I believe Anupam Kher delivered an outstanding performance as Manmohan Singh in The Accidental Prime Minister; it stands out as one of his finest roles. However, if you inquire about my future plans, I will not engage in this genre again."

Once the film's theatrical run ends, Emergency will have its OTT premiere on Netflix. A film usually drops on streaming after 45-60 days of the theatrical run.
