Dumb and Dumber To plot overview

The film centers around two long-time buddies, Harry (Jeff Daniels) and Lloyd (Jim Carrey). Harry's health is taking a turn for the worse, and he’s in need of a kidney transplant. Recently, he discovered that he has a daughter, and now he’s counting on her to help him out. So, Harry and Lloyd embark on a journey to track down Harry’s daughter and convince her to donate a kidney to save his life.

In 2014, Bobby Farrelly, one of the directors of Dumb and Dumber To, opened up about the unique journey of making the sequel after so many years. He mentioned how much he loved seeing people's reactions when they found out a new Dumb and Dumber movie was on the way.

Farrelly also pointed out that they had to bring Harry and Lloyd back to life in a way that felt true to their characters, since they haven't really changed and are still stuck in the same spot. Because of that, they ended up filming the sequel in Atlanta.
