In January of this year, Netflix revealed its lineup of eight Tamil films scheduled for release in 2025, including several projects that had been postponed from the previous year. Among the titles featured were Retro, Vidaamuyarchi, and Thug Life, along with two films from actor-director Pradeep Ranganathan. One of these is Dragon, co-written by Ranganathan and director Ashwath Marimuthu, while the other is an untitled project by debutant filmmaker Keerthiswaran, starring Mamitha Baiju in the lead role. Just over a month later, Dragon, which also features Anupama Parameswaran, Kayadu Lohar, Mysskin, Gautham Vasudev Menon, KS Ravikumar, and George Maryan, premiered in theaters and achieved remarkable success, earning Rs 100 crore in revenue within just ten days.

The film continues to perform exceptionally well at the box office; however, with its post-theatrical run having concluded earlier, there is growing speculation that Netflix may soon add Dragon to its platform. Recent reports suggest that Dragon will be accessible in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi beginning March 28, 2025, on Netflix. While the platform has not yet verified this information, it has become common for films to be released after a 30-day period.

Dragon portrayed Pradeep as a college dropout who fabricates a degree and employs various shortcuts to achieve rapid success. However, when he is compelled to return to college and resolve all his outstanding credits within a specified timeframe, he must enlist the assistance of his former girlfriend, who had previously labeled him a failure and is now an instructor at the institution.

After Dragon, Pradeep is set to appear in Love Insurance Kompany, a science fiction romantic drama directed by Vignesh Shivan, which he co-wrote alongside the director and SJ Suryah. In this film, Pradeep stars opposite Krithi Shetty, and the plot will explore themes of time travel. Originally, Love Insurance Kompany was slated to feature Sivakarthikeyan, but the project was temporarily halted due to financial issues before being revived with Pradeep in the lead role.
