Nearly two months after its theatrical release, Do Aur Do Pyaar has finally made it to OTT. You can stream the romantic comedy starring Vidya Balan, Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D'Cruz, and Sendhil Ramamurthy on Disney+ Hotstar. Under the banners of Applause Entertainment and Ellipsis Entertainment Production, Sameer Nair, Deepak Segal, Tanuj Garg, Atul Kasbekar, and Swati Iyer Chawla produced the 2024 film, which marks the directorial debut of Shirsha Guha Thakurta.

Do Aur Do Pyaar plot summary

In Do Aur Do Pyaar, to alleviate the monotony of their marriage, Kavya (Vidya Balan) and Ani (Pratik), a distant couple in their late 30s, are engaging in discreet extramarital affairs with two attractive strangers (Sendhil and Ileana). After a funeral journey to her birthplace reignites their spark, Kavya and Ani are determined to make their marriage work. The situation changes when they begin to avoid their lovers in order to spend time with each other. 

Director's perspective on infidelity

Earlier, during an interaction with PTI, when asked her thoughts on the extramarital storyline in Do Aur Do Pyaar, Shirsha said that it's not a film about infidelity; it's about love. It is completely acceptable to seek love elsewhere if it is no longer satisfying you. Generally speaking, the word "infidelity" does not convey a positive image; it carries a lot of stigma. Their goal has always been to avoid giving the impression that we are endorsing or condoning adultery. 

She continued by stating that urban relationships undergo the process of growing out of love. She believes that we don't discuss the topic of love's maturation nearly enough. As a community, people must inquire into or come to terms with these intriguing and consequential concerns regarding the nature of reality.

Reception and future prospects

Despite receiving praise for its content and the outstanding performances of lead actors Vidya and Pratik, the box office results did not meet expectations. With the film now on Disney+ Hotstar, we can expect more people to watch it and appreciate how it handled infidelity with humour and maturity.
