Vishnu Mohan's Kadha Innuvare has released in theatres across the state today (September 20). The film, starring Biju Menon, Methil Devika, Nikhila Vimal, Anusree, Anu Mohan and Hakkim Shajahan, is the director's second film after Unni Mukundan-starrer Meppadiyan, which won national acclaim. The young filmmaker discusses this movie and how he persuaded famous classical dancer Methil Devika to work on it in a conversation with OTTplay.

'Kadha Innuvare is a plausible love story'

According to Vishnu, Kadha Innuvare is a narrative of true love that many viewers would find plausible. There has always been a certain audience that enjoys occasionally viewing a romantic drama. They're going to be touched by this movie, he added. The director went on to say that he is excited to share with the audience this tale.

"The majority of us do experience occasional, distinct instances of one-sided love in our lives. For this reason, you will undoubtedly have a connection to some of the characters in the film," Vishnu asserted. He continued by saying that lovers of his first movie, Meppadiyan, would undoubtedly enjoy Kadha Innuvare. He remarked, "I think my target audience for this film is an audience that is 25 years of age and up". The director went on to say that, although he had another movie after Meppadiyan, it had not worked out.

'Bringing Methil Devika to Kadha Innuvare'

He made it clear that the renowned classical dancer had no interest in acting or appearing in films. "A director informed me there was no point in contacting her because she had turned down his offer to be in his movie. But I did try," Vishnu said. As many as 48 hours before the film was to be shot, he disclosed that Devika had agreed to star in it.

Regarding her role, the director stated that Methil Devika's name was brought up when the team's original plan was to cast an acclaimed individual rather than an actress. "What was intriguing was that there was no backup plan! I had a gut sense Devika would accept the offer, therefore, I declined to consider anyone else for this role," he remarked. Vishnu brought up the fact that Methil Devika's first movie is the movie's main selling point right now.
