Akshay Kumar to be a part of Maddock's horror-comedy universe?
On January 5, Akshay Kumar, Dinesh Vijan, Amar Kaushik, Veer Pahariya, and several others attended the trailer launch event for their forthcoming film, Sky Force. During the media session, discussions regarding Stree 3 and the potential return of Akshay's character in the horror-comedy series were initiated. In a light-hearted manner, Akshay remarked that Sky Force represents his ‘dedh’ collaboration with Dinesh Vijan. When questioned about his participation in Maddock's horror-comedy universe and whether he would be involved, the Welcome actor responded, "What can I say? Dinesh and Jyoti (Deshpande; producer) will have to decide that. They’re the ones to pump in the money. Aur Amar Kaushik ko direct karna hai."
Dinesh Vijan, who was also present at the launch event, called Akshay 'Thanos' while confirming the actor's presence in future films. He said, "Of course, he’s a part of the universe! He’s our Thanos."
Akshay Kumar's character in Stree 2
In Stree 2, which emerged as one of the top-grossing films of 2024, Akshay portrays a patient in a psychiatric facility who possesses the sole key to vanquishing the primary antagonist, Sarkata. The film concluded with a cliffhanger, revealing that Akshay's character has been overtaken by Sarkata's spirit. It will be intriguing to observe how the creators will advance the storyline. Stree 3, featuring Rajkummar and Shraddha, is scheduled for release in cinemas on August 13, 2027.
Maddock Films has recently unveiled plans for eight films within the horror-comedy genre. The film Thama, featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, is scheduled for release on Diwali 2025, while Shakti Shalini is set to premiere on December 31, 2025. In 2026, audiences can anticipate Varun Dhawan's Bhediya 2 on August 14, followed by Chamunda on December 4. The lineup continues with Stree 3 in 2027 and Maha Munjya on December 24, along with Pehla Mahayudh on August 11, 2028, and Doosra Mahayudh on October 18, 2028.
