Border 2, the follow-up to JP Dutta's 1997 film Border, is among the most anticipated cinematic releases. Featuring prominent actors Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and Varun Dhawan in leading roles, the film has attracted considerable attention and excitement since its announcement. As fans await further news, Diljit recently shared insights regarding his character in Border 2 during a new interview.

Diljit Dosanjh's role in Border 2 revealed

Border 2 has not disclosed specific information regarding the roles of the actors involved in the film. Nevertheless, in a recent podcast, Diljit Dosanjh announced that he will portray Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, an Indian Air Force officer who was awarded the Param Vir Chakra posthumously. It will be intriguing to see how Diljit embodies the character of the IAF officer.

According to sources, “Diljit is presently engaged in the filming of the Punjabi movie, Sardaarji 3, in Scotland. He is expected to commence preparations for Border 2 by the end of March. Anurag has planned a comprehensive 20-day shooting schedule for him. The dialogue scenes will be filmed at the Bombay Flying Club in Juhu, while expansive shots will take place in Kashmir, where replicas of the Folland Gnat fighter aircraft will be utilized, and the Srinagar air base will be recreated.”


Who was IAF officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon?

Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon served as an officer in the Indian Air Force. He was awarded the Param Vir Chakra, the highest military honor in India, posthumously for his courageous defense of the Srinagar Air Base against aerial assaults by the Pakistan Air Force during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War. On December 14, 1971, he was present at the Srinagar air base when it came under attack from six F-86 jets of the Pakistan Air Force.

The film was originally scheduled to commence production on November 25 in Jammu and Kashmir, featuring an extensive action sequence with Sunny Deol, Diljit, and Varun Dhawan. This war drama showcases the four main characters as officers from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, and will be filmed at authentic locations throughout northern India.

Border 2 is helmed by Anurag Singh, known for his work on Kesari, and is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta.
