One question that Krithi Shetty has often been asked in the three years since she’s been an actress is about when she will debut in Kannada cinema. She has Mangaluru roots after all. Krithi, who has been busy with Telugu and Tamil cinema, is gearing up for her Malayalam film debut with Ajayante Randam Moshanam (A.R.M), which releases on September 12. And while the Tovino Thomas-led film will have a Kannada-dubbed version too, an original film is yet to come to her.

In fact, Krithi herself thought that following her Telugu debut, her next step would be to do Kannada films. “For some reason that did not happen and I’d been hearing from various circles that people are wondering when I will step into the industry. But given that I have debuted in Telugu, Tamil and now Malayalam with fantastic scripts, I have an added responsibility that when I do my first Kannada film, it will have to be a wonderful debut. I am still waiting for the right scripts,” says Krithi speaking to NewsFirst Prime, admitting that she has had offers, but could not take them up for various reasons.

Love to work with Rakshit Shetty sir: Krithi Shetty

Although Krithi is fluent in Tulu, she reckons that for a Kannada debut, she will need enough time to learn the language, so that she can pick up her lines effortlessly. Asked about who’d she’d love to work with in Sandalwood, Krithi, of course, said she’d be game to collaborate with anyone, but her personal favourite is Rakshit Shetty. “I have been following Rakshit sir’s work for a long time and I really like his style of acting. I would love to work with him,” she says.

Well, Rakshit is currently working on the script of his next directorial Richard Anthony, which is the prequel to his directorial debut, Ulidavaru Kandanthe. An earlier casting call that he’d announced for the film mandated actresses from the coastal belt, who could speak the local language. At the time, it was thought KGF fame Srinidhi Shetty could be in the reckoning, but well, looks like Krithi may have a shot at a film with Rakshit after all.
