Hera Pheri is one franchise that will always have one of the highest recall values in the world of cinema, and that is a fact. The two films released so far, with the first directed by the iconic Priyadarshan, have been embraced by audiences, making the three stars—Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal—icons of comedy for that one film. Fans of the trio have been eagerly waiting for any update on the third installment, and Hera Pheri 3 keeps popping up in the headlines. 

However, there hasn’t been any substantial update on the project for a long time. Now, it turns out that while we wait for Hera Pheri 3, director Raaj Shaandilyaa, of Dream Girl fame, has developed a script for the three stars, saying that he finally has a story that does justice to the trio and their fandom. 

Hera Pheri Trio to Reunite?

For the unversed, Raaj Shaandilyaa is currently busy promoting his next directorial, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. In an interview with Pinkvilla, the filmmaker revealed how he had also discussed Hera Pheri 3 with Akshay Kumar, but nothing came of it, which led him to move on to making Dream Girl 2. However, the director mentioned that he now has something in mind for Akshay Kumar and plans to pursue it further. Read on to find out more.

“In between, I was also discussing Hera Pheri 3 with Akshay Kumar, but things didn’t work out, so I moved on to Dream Girl 2. I didn’t understand the plot they had for Hera Pheri 3 back then, but ever since, I have been developing a subject for Akshay Kumar. I will narrate it to him very soon,” said Raaj Shaandilyaa, as he also revealed that his script is very much in the spirit of the Hera Pheri franchise.

Raaj Shaandilyaa explained that the movie he has written is actually a three-character film, specifically developed with Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal in mind. He went on to emphasize that it is always the characters that evoke laughter in a comedy film. The filmmaker revealed that his comedy is rooted in a relatable story for the audience.

“It’s the world of Hera Pheri—a 3-character film with a lot of chaos. It has all the elements of Hera Pheri. The trio of Akshay sir, Paresh Sir, and Anna [Suniel Shetty] warrants a great script, and I have developed this one for them. It will work out soon. A comedy works only when you develop relatable characters for the audience. It’s always the character that evokes laughter,” he added.
