Dhruva Sarja: ‘I am not the only hero of Martin, there’s also…’

On October 11, Dhruva Sarja’s much-delayed action thriller Martin is finally hitting theatres. The actor is supremely confident about the film, which is based on a story by his uncle, Action King Arjun Sarja, but he’s also a tad nervous, now that it is ready for audiences and they decide if the effort was worth it after all.
Speaking to TV9 Kannada as part of Martin’s promotions, Dhruva said that as much as he is the leading man of the film, as far as he is concerned, the real hero of the film is composer Ravi Basrur, who has handled the background score. Basrur’s score of Martin, says Dhruva, has elevated the film to another level. More importantly, the actor says that audiences will be pleasantly surprised by Basrur’s work, as he’s attempted a fresh sound for Martin, which is unlike anything he’s done earlier.
Shot over 250-odd days, the final edit of Martin is a tad under two-and-a-half hour, which Dhruva says is the perfect length for the action thriller. While the narrative follows a reverse screenplay format, the plot, he adds, revolves around the identity of the title character.
Martin is, no doubt, heavy on action, but the actor adds that the fact that it has been awarded U/A censor certificate should tell audiences that there’s more to it than just that. In fact, Dhruva says that the film also has a cute romantic track that will appeal to a section of audiences. He is paired with Vaibhavi Shandilya, but then the film also stars Anveshi Jain as a gangster moll, and she is the romantic interest of Martin.
The assumption is that Dhruva, who plays a soldier called Arjun Saxena, goes undercover as Martin, which will be revealed when the film releases on October 11. The film will open in across 2,000 screens across the country, but will not have early morning shows, owing to last-minute DI corrections.
