Filmmaker Karan Johar's Dharma Productions recently revealed a new film featuring Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan, called Naagzilla. The movie was announced on Tuesday with a motion poster showcasing the actor. However, observant Reddit users quickly pointed out that the poster seems to use an old photo from Kartik’s Instagram, leading to criticism online.

On Wednesday, a Reddit user posted Kartik Aaryan's previous Instagram post, which depicts him from behind, admiring a picturesque view—remarkably similar to the imagery used in the Naagzilla poster. The comparison prompted users to criticize the filmmakers for "putting no effort" into the new marketing material. The post's caption stated, “So Dharma basically reused Kartik’s old Instagram post to create the official poster for their upcoming movie. KJo and his team truly have ceased to make any efforts. ”

One Reddit user remarked, "When will this AI epidemic depart from the design field? Almost all movie posters have begun to appear uniform and excessively artificial due to this AI overexploitation. " Another user stated, "This is incredibly outrageous. They were in such a hurry to unveil their subpar project that they couldn’t even arrange a proper shoot. The poster and visuals look astonishingly poor for a 2025 release. It’s utterly ridiculous, and the title is laughable. " Another participant added, "Genuinely one of the most humorous things I have witnessed. "

Some supporters justified the decision, mentioning that Kartik is currently featuring a prominent beard for Anurag Basu’s unnamed musical drama, rendering it “impossible” to create a new poster for Naagzilla at this moment.

Aside from Naagzilla, Kartik Aaryan is presently shooting for Anurag Basu’s romantic musical drama with Sreeleela. He is also featured in the romantic comedy Tu Meri Main Tera, which is additionally supported by Karan Johar and set to premiere in 2026.
