Devara box office collection Day 1: The mass action thriller, which marked the reunion of Jr NTR and director Koratala Siva, has opened to mixed reviews. The movie, which stars the Telugu superstar in a double role, made a grand opening at the worldwide box office by making a Day 1 collection of over Rs. 172 crore. However, the recent updates from trade experts suggest that Devara failed to beat the Day 1 collection of Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD at the Kerala box office.

Devara box office Day 1 Kerala collection

As per the recent updates from the trade experts, it has been confirmed that Devara made an opening collection of around Rs. 61 crore, at the Kerala box office. Even though it is indeed a decent opening collection for a Telugu language film at the box office, the movie has evidently failed to surpass the opening day collections of other Telugu big budget ventures. Even though Devara was expected to surpass the Day 1 collections of Prabhas starrer Kalki 2898 AD in Kerala, the movie failed to do so.

While things might change for Devara during its first weekend at the Kerala box office owing to the weekend rush, it is yet to be seen if the movie will be able to pass the first Monday test. While considering the mixed reviews and the lack of hype among the Malayalam-speaking audiences, it is highly unlikely for the Koratala Siva directorial to surpass any of the pre-existing collection records set by the other Telugu biggies, including SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2, Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa, or the Nag Ashwin directorial Kalki 2898 AD.

Devara: All you need to know

The Koratala Siva directorial features Jr NTR in a double role, as the brave and powerful Devara and his son Varadha. Saif Ali Khan appears as Devara’s friend turned foe, Bhaira. Janhvi Kapoor plays Thangam, the love interest of Varadha, while Shruti Marathe plays the role of Devara’s wife. Anirudh Ravichander composed the music score for the film. R Rathnavelu and A Sreekar Prasad handled the cinematography and editing, respectively.
