Deva is set to hit OTT platforms soon! Shahid Kapoor stars as a cop in this film directed by Rosshan Andrrews, featuring Pooja Hegde, Kubbra Sait, and Pavail Gulati. On Thursday, Netflix India announced on their official Instagram that Deva will premiere on March 28.

Netflix India posted the poster for Deva on their Instagram, along with a caption featuring the lyrics from the film's music album: “Bhasad macha Trigger chala Deva aa raha hai."

All About Deva

Deva is a reimagining of Rosshan’s 2013 Malayalam film Mumbai Police, which starred Prithviraj Sukumaran. In this version, Shahid plays ACP Dev Ambre, a character who suffers from memory loss while investigating the murder of his best friend. Pooja portrays his girlfriend, a reporter named Diya Sathaye.

When asked if there's a connection between Deva and the classic Dewaar featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Shahid shared, "Performing in a film like that is humbling for any actor. Amit ji has been a part of our lives; we grew up admiring him as a star. The film had a compelling narrative, strong character interactions, memorable dialogues, and outstanding performances. It’s a cherished memory for all of us," he told PTI.

A review from the Hindustan Times mentioned, “Deva could have benefited from more action and fewer layers. If the approach is meant to appeal to the masses, why complicate the story? Some intriguing storylines also feel unfinished. The soundtrack features just one upbeat title track. The dialogues by Abbas Dalal and Hussain Dalal are decent as well. Overall, Deva had the potential to present a dynamic character who is always on the edge and unpredictable, but instead, we end up with a story that feels quite predictable, despite Shahid's strong performance."
